Introduction

中国经济学教育科研网
The movement of people within countries, as from rural to urban areas, is generally associated with economic growth and development. However, China, the world’s fastest-growing large economy, restricts rural-urban migration. Despite these restrictions, China is experiencing the largest rural-urban migration in history, as some 150 million people have left their registered rural residences to move to cities over the past 25 years. In the United States, by contrast, about 25 million people moved from rural to urban areas between 1945 and 1970. (CIA World Fact book, 2006)
By reading and research information on the internet on this topic, you will be able to learn how the lifestyles of the indivdual people and their families have been impacted by this migration

Tasks

You will describe the journey of a family, a daughter or son to a large city in China in order to describe the differences in lifestyles between rural and urban Chinese as a result of the great migration .
Since this is a collabortive activity. The group will have to decide what information will be included in this weqbquest t provide the information you need to tell this story.

Process

Since this is a cooperative exercise, you will need to assign roles.
Every member of the Collaborative should explore before some internet sites that are important to the story.
  • Learn: ( To Learn about the Great Migration Visit these Sites)
You will work on your own. Each member should try to learn about the great migration by searching the interenet. At this time, individuals will can store their searches in their Diigo. The purpose of this exercise is to learn general information about the topic, then go to the group to talk about what they found.
Look at socio-economic information, news articles, look at videos etc. Discuss what you found in your group to start thinking about your story.
This exercise will give you information to start thinking about who the characters will be in your story, the setting of your story and help you discuss what the problem is and the solution is for your message.
For example,Who is the main character etc. Please look at your storyboard rubric in your folder for guidance
  • Explore: Once you all have general knowlege about the topic, you will need to explore places
Where are the people in your story from? Decide that which city and town and other information do you need to be able to tell their story. Explore to find pictures of the main characters you might use for your story. At this stage you need to have a Diigo group so everyone can share their bookmarks. Meet as a group to work on the StoryTelling Graphic Organizer.
  • Research:
Now you are ready to start finding specific detail about all the elements that will be part of your story. You should research to find the graphics the storyboard, images with a list of the images, times, texts, media that you will need for your site.
Capture some images of what the individual might look like ( child, adult, couple). Find images of houses where they lived, places where they would go to eat, to play. etc. Once you have this information, you will need to assign roles for the voicethread
  • Create:
Will each of you in the group narrate a page of the voice thread? What role will each of you play?
dentify the places where the individuals are from. Use a google map to plot a tour from the rural town to the city. Will you annotate any of your slides? Search for images on Pinterest, google, Chinese Search Engines. You can search video on YouTube, too!
